A formal Report on the situation of a Project, Phase, Workpackage or Activity. It is current on the date is was produced. There are various types of Status Report, some to cover routine reporting needs and others for particular situations.
Status Reports that cover regular and routine needs are:
- 1. a Project Status Report for a non-PRINCE2™ Project. The corresponding name for a PRINCE2™-compliant Project is Highlight Report)
- 2. a Team Report for a non-PRINCE2™ Project. The corresponding name for a PRINCE2™-compliant Project is Checkpoint Report)
- 3. Phase/Stage, Workpackage, and Activity Status Tables which are used to consolidate detailed information for items 1 and 2 above
- 4. a Financial Status Report (FSR)
Status Reports for particular situations are:
- an Exception Report (which must include the Project Manager’s Recommendations for how the Exception should be resolved);
- an End Phase Report or End Stage Report (which must include the Project Manager’s Recommendations for what happens at the end of the Phase/Stage);
- an End Project Report (which can include a final Financial Status Report, a Lessons Learned Report and a Follow-on Actions Report).
Information for the preparation of these reports will come from a number of sources including the Risk, Issues, Quality and Configuration Folders, the Daily Log; the Project Control Folders and the other Project Files.
