An Exception Plan is prepared when a Project is found to have one or more Exception Conditions. It will be a Plan for action to correct the Exception Condition(s), and will be produced following the submission of an Exception Report, either on the initiative of the Project Manager, or because he/she has been instructed to produce it by the Project Board.
It is common for an Exception Plan to be developed from the Plan in which the Exception arose. This could be the existing Project Plan, Phase Plan or Stage Plan, or a Team Plan. If an entirely new Plan is required, the choice of which Template to use would depend upon which of the existing Plans has the Exception Condition(s) - (see below).
