This is the justification for a Project (and also for a Bid), showing why the gains or benefits anticipated will be worth the forecast expenditure of time and effort. It is important to remember that this expenditure may be more than just that incurred by the Project itself, (e.g. it should also include the impacts on the wider business, of the change(s) that the Project will bring about.
The Business Case may be included as a section in the PID, or prepared as a stand-alone document. The choice will be influenced by the scale of the Project, and the complexity of its impact on the End User's or the Customer’s organisation and business.
